Condition: I am not an expert on this, but I believe this to be gilded brass. The surface has a dull gold patina, but in the few places where it is rubbed or worn it appears to be a shiny brass underneath. I'm not sure the wooden base is original to the piece, probably added to display it. It is rough with lots of chips in the finish. The "ball" that the eagle is perched on is in two pieces, the bottom of which can be removed. Inside is a threaded hole for mounting. There is an intentional hole in the eagles beak.

Fantastic vintage eagle flag pole topper or finial of some sort.
9 3/8" wide by 5" tall without the base. Base is 5 7/8" diameter.
No makers mark.
Weight is 2.2 pounds.
