The Bealtes 1993/96 Franklin Mint Sgt. Pepper's Music Dome Rare Factory ErrorDescription
Up for sale is a Limited Edition Franklin Mint Beatles Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band Music Dome, which has a copyright date of 1993, although I believe it was actually released
in 1996.
This particular dome is exceptionally rare in that it has a rather odd factory error. Instead of a Beatles Sgt. Pepper related music track playing when the key is wound, what the music box plays is "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" from the Wizard of Oz; and that particular line
of domes was not released until 1996; specifically the one that's called the "There's No Place Like Home" which plays the same exact tune. It's pretty hard to track down the accurate information as to the actual date of this dome's release, as the copyright date on the bottom does not match the information reflected on a few sites out there. So if it were true that this dome was released in 1993, and the Wizard of Oz dome wasn't released until 1996, then what we have here is potentially a mass production anomaly, or anachronism,
so to speak.
The figures inside the dome have a bit of color fading on them, due to the fact that this dome was sitting on a window sill for the past couple of decades collecting quite a bit of dust (which has been wiped off from the dome) and an awful lot of sunlight. The patterns on the base of the dome also seem to have faded a bit as well.
The dome comes with its original certificate of authenticity and nothing else.
This certificate of authenticity exhibits some minor signs of wear on it along with some minor spotting throughout the page.
The original box for it is not included as it's no longer available. To the best of my recollection, that box was just a simple white cardboard box with nothing special written on it, so I don't believe that would affect this item's intrinsic value.
The limited edition number handwritten at the bottom of the dome reads RTR131.
I'm deciding to sell it off now due to a recent death in the family, which has left me facing some pretty dire financial obligations and so I'm simply trying to just make ends meet here, so make me an offer and this incredibly rare dome can be yours for less than the asking price.
