Vintage reference photograph of director Clifford Odets and a camera crew on the set of the 1944 film. With a printed mimeo snipe affixed to the verso, along with the stamp of RKO Pictures crediting still photographer John Miehle.
Based on Richard Llewellyn's 1943 novel. An itinerant Cockney returns home after many years away, only to find his mother ill with cancer, leading him to make an effort to reform and help his family run their business. The directorial debut of playwright Odets, who would only direct one other picture, "The Story on Page One," fifteen years later. Nominated for four Academy Awards, winning one for Best Supporting Actress for Ethel Barrymore.
