Lots of pitting character and a hole.
If you're looking for a refined finial, don't buy this one.
This has awesome oozing character, pitting and a hole
and the massive 5" diameter ball on top resembles a
cannon ball.  At 32lbs for such a small object, this
finial is a force to reckon with!
I don't know how to date this but my guess is pre-1900 since
the cast is solid and not hollow and how many years it must have been
to make the pitting.  The bottom is quite irregular
and looks like it was cast in two halves (there's a small ridge
down the middle on the bottom).
